[BRIEFING.COM] The gains may not be much, but there is a firm tone in the stock market today that has been aided by the pleasing CPI news and the U.S.-China trade framework agreement.

Treasury Secretary Bessent, who was a key player during the negotiations, is testifying before the House Ways and Means Committee today and said, "If China will course-correct by upholding its end of the initial trade agreement we outlined in Geneva last month, then a big, beautiful rebalancing of the world's two largest economies is possible." He later added that he believes China will uphold agreements made in Geneva and London.

The positive price action has continued to accord added benefit to the small-cap stocks. The Russell 2000 is up 0.5% today, which places it ahead of other major indices. That move leaves it up 1.7% for the week and 4.9% for the month.
