[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market is trudging along, lacking spark, which has been quelled by the specter of the U.S.-China trade meeting this weekend.
There was a lot of earnings news after yesterday's close, but it has had mostly stock-specific implications that have manifested themselves in mixed responses that have kept the indices in check for the most part.
There wasn't any notable U.S. economic data out this morning, but China reported April trade figures that featured a 0.2% year-over-year decline in imports and an 8.1% year-over-year increase in exports, with Asia-Pacific and Europe offsetting a drop in exports to the U.S.
Next week's economic calendar will be highlighted by the April CPI, Retail Sales, and PPI reports.
