[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.2%) continues holding a modest gain with eight sectors trading lower.
The top-weighted technology (-0.6%) sector is among today's biggest laggards, though the weakness comes after the group gained more than 10.0% since the end of April, so some profit taking is not surprising.
NVIDIA (NVDA 135.96, -3.23, -2.3%) is contributing to today's weakness as it continues giving back its post-earnings gain from yesterday, but it is still up 24.8% for the month. Most other components of the tech sector also trade lower while software names are showing some strength with the iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV 102.90, +0.55, +0.5%) rising toward the midpoint of yesterday's range and Palantir (PLTR 130.16, +7.84, +6.4%) seeking a fresh record close.
