[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market started Wednesday on a flat note with the S&P 500 hovering just above its unchanged level after spending the initial 30 minutes in a narrow range.
Five sectors are among the early advancers, but their gains have been kept in check. The communication services sector (+0.4%) is an early leader while consumer staples (+0.1%), and technology (+0.1%) also hold gains.
On the downside, materials (-0.5%) and utilities (-0.5%) are among the early laggards, but these lightly-weighted sectors have a limited impact on the overall market.
Treasuries have widened their early losses with the 10-yr yield now up five basis points at 4.48%.
