[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.1%) is hanging onto a slim gain, but it is struggling to extend it.
Three sectors continue trading higher, which includes top-weighted technology (+0.4%). The outperformance in the sector is taking place despite a soft showing from Apple (AAPL 201.83, -0.26, -0.1%) and some pressure on chipmakers that has the PHLX Semiconductor Index slipping 0.2%.
Meanwhile, Palantir (PLTR 125.63, +5.05, +4.2%) is the leading performer in the sector as it climbs back toward its record high from last week (133.49). Software stocks are also having a good showing with the iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV 103.30, +1.13, +1.1%) reclaiming the bulk of its loss from yesterday.
