[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.5%) started today's session with a slip past yesterday's low, though the market is fighting to remain above its worst level of the morning.
Ten out of eleven sectors display early losses with health care (-1.2%) and consumer discretionary (-0.9%) leading to the downside while the communication services sector (+1.0%) outperforms.
The underperformance in health care follows renewed weakness in UnitedHealth (UNH 306.91, -14.67, -4.6%) while the discretionary sector is being pressured by a poor reaction to results of a few apparel names and retailer Target (TGT 91.96, -6.16, -6.4%).
On the upside, the communication services sector trades higher with Alphabet (GOOG 169.17, +3.85, +2.4%) and Meta Platforms (META 639.61, +2.51, +0.4%) on the rise.
