[BRIEFING.COM] The market-cap weighted S&P 500 shows a 0.8% gain and the equal-weighted S&P 500 trades 0.5% higher.
More S&P 500 sectors were trading lower earlier in the session compared to recent trading. Only three sectors remain in the red -- health care (-2.5%), real estate (-0.9%), and consumer staples (-0.8%) -- while five sectors trade up by at least 1.0%.
The technology (+2.1%), communication services (+1.6%), and energy (+1.4%) sectors show the largest gains.
The energy sector has responded to a jump in oil prices. WTI crude oil futures are 2.1% higher at $63.28/bbl.
