[BRIEFING.COM] The major equity indices are slowly moving off highs, but still maintain solid gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was more than 1,000 points higher at its best level today, and trades more than 860 points higher now.
Eight of the 11 S&P 500 sectors trade up more than 1.0%. The consumer discretionary (+4.9%), technology (+3.5%), communication services (+2.4%), and industrial (+2.2%) sectors lead the pack.
The rate-sensitive utilities sector is the worst performer, down 0.9% from Friday's settlement, amid rising market rates. The 10-yr yield is up seven basis points at 4.44%.
