Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] There hasn't been much up or down action at the index level in recent trading. The major indices are trolling along near session lows. 

The S&P 500 consumer staples sector is the only sector to trade higher through the entire session, showing a 1.4%. The outperformance reflects the strong risk-off vibe driving today's price action.

Fellow defensive-oriented sectors like health care (flat) and utilities (-0.2%) have also exhibited relative outperformance compared to the broader equity market.
