[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+1.6%) reached a fresh session high over the last half hour. Today's advance has the S&P 500 nearly 10% than its low close on April 8 (4,982.77).
This leaves the index 3.5% higher this week. Mega caps and chipmakers have been an important driving factor this week. The PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX) is 9.6% higher than last week and the Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF (MGK) is 5.1% higher this week.
The S&P 500 technology sector, which houses mega caps and chipmakers, sits on a 5.7% gain this week.
