[BRIEFING.COM] Small and mid cap stocks are leading the recent pullback. The Russell 2000 shows a 0.4% decline and the S&P Mid Cap 400 trades 0.1% lower.
Large cap indices have given back most of their morning gains. The S&P 500 was up nearly 100 points at its high, but trades only 11 points higher now.
Notably, the equal-weighted S&P 500 still sports a 0.5% gain, indicating some buying activity under the surface. Nine of the 11 S&P 500 sectors trade higher despite the deterioration at the index level. The utilities (+1.2%) and real estate (+1.2%) sectors lead the pack.
