[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.9%) trades near its worst level of the day. Small and mid cap stocks are also struggling under selling pressure.
The Russell 2000 is 1.5% lower and the S&P Mid Cap 400 is 1.5% below its prior close.
Weakness in bank stocks has contributed to the decline in the small cap index, which houses many regional bank components. Also, the SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETT (KRE) trades 2.1% lower.
