Stocks open to mixed action amid mega cap weakness
Dow +159.16 at 42746.66, Nasdaq -163.71 at 18108.15, S&P -15.15 at 5761.50

[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market opened to muted action at the index level. There's not a lot of conviction from buyers or sellers overall, but there is a concentration of selling interest in the mega cap space.

The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF (MGK) shows a 1.1% decline. Meanwhile, the equal-weighted S&P 500 trades 0.4% higher. 

Uncertainty around US trade policy is another limiting factor for equities after President Trump said he doesn't want too many exceptions for reciprocal tariffs, but that he would probably be more lenient than reciprocal, according to Bloomberg.

The S&P 500 technology (-1.2%), discretionary (-0.9%), and communication services (-0.8%) sectors are alone in the red while the the energy (+1.5%), staples (+0.8%), and financial (+0.6%) sectors lead the pack.
