[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 is 0.8% higher and the Nasdaq Composite trades 1.0% above its prior close.
Semiconductor shares were showing relative weakness early on, leading the PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX) to trade 0.7% lower. Chipmakers have recovered, though, helping boost the broader equity market. The SOX shows a 0.8% gain now.
This price action has contributed to the gain in the S&P 500 technology sector, which trades 1.3% higher and leads the 11 sectors.
