[BRIEFING.COM] The major indices trade near session lows. The S&P 500 (-1.0%) is about 55 points lower.
Broad selling activity has eight of the 11 S&P 500 sectors lower. The communication services sector shows the largest decline by a wide margin, weighed down by Meta Platforms (META 578.68, -27.22, -4.5%) and Alphabet (GOOG 159.01, -7.70, -4.6%).
GOOG shares are responding in part to an agreement to acquire Wiz, Inc., a cloud security platform company, for $32 billion in cash.
