[BRIEFING.COM] More often than not, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (-0.4%) has found itself in a leadership position in 2025. That is the case again today. The key difference, though, is that today it is a downside leader.
To be fair, its losses are modest on an absolute basis and certainly on a relative basis considering it was up 5.5% for the year coming into today's session.
Honeywell (HON 212.99, -9.36, -4.2%), which reported earnings today that featured disappointing FY25 guidance, is one of the biggest percentage losers in the Dow. Honeywell also announced a plan to split into three publicly-listed companies that involves the separation of its Automotive and Aerospace segments.
The biggest point losers in the Dow today are Salesforce (CRM 333.35, -14.58, -4.2%), which announced the retirement of its longtime COO, and UnitedHealth (UNH 527.13, -12.68, -2.4%), which is falling in sympathy with Molina Healthcare (MOH 285.91, -26.61, -8.4%) after its disappointing report and outlook. They are having some overriding influence on the price-weighted average since they are some of the highest-priced components.
