[BRIEFING.COM] There wasn't much up or down action over the last half hour. The S&P 500 trades 0.7% higher, but sits on a 2.3% decline this month.
The Nasdaq Composite is 4.7% lower in February and the Russell 2000 shows a 6.0% decline this month.
Mega caps and small caps drew increased selling interest in February while the "rest" of the market registered more modest decline. The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP) is 1.1% lower since January.
On an individual sector basis, the consumer discretionary sector has the largest decline by a wide margin, down 10.1% in February. The discretionary sector had a lot of components report earnings this month, especially in the retail industry. The SPDR S&P Retailer ETF (XRT) is 7.7% lower since January.
