[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.6%) and Nasdaq Composite (-0.4%) moved slightly higher in recent trading, but remain below prior closing levels.
The relative improvement coincided with some mega cap names turning positive. Apple (AAPL 233.66, +1.04, +0.4%), which traded down as much as 0.8%, is influential in that respect.
Still, the overall vibe in the equity market is decidedly negative. Decliners have a 4-to-1 lead over advancers at the NYSE and a better than 2-to-1 lead at the Nasdaq.
