[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.4%), Nasdaq Composite (-0.2%), and DJIA (-0.5%) are charting session lows as the broader market retreats, with ten S&P 500 sectors now trading lower.
The energy sector (-2.5%) continues to struggle, which is perhaps exacerbated by reports that the war in Ukraine may be nearing an end. The price of oil has decreased $1.62 (-2.9%) to $55.20.
The technology sector (-0.5%) is also now firmly lower after a brief stint in positive territory. A majority of the sector's components hold losses, with weakness in chipmakers sending the PHLX Semiconductor Index 1.4% lower. Micron (MU 232.58, -4.92, -2.07%) continues to slide ahead of its earnings report after the close tomorrow.
