Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages trade in a steady range near session highs at midday as gains across mega-cap and tech names widen as the session progresses. 

Broadcom (AVGO 371.42, +31.22, +9.18%) is the best-performing name in the S&P 500 today, with its nearly double-digit gain moving it into positive month-to-date territory after several turbulent weeks. 

The PHLX Semiconductor Index (+4.2%) is still down 7.6% in November, though today's sharp gains reflect an uptick in confidence across chipmaker names. NVIDIA (NVDA 182.15, +3.27, +1.83%) holds a solid gain after spending time in negative territory this morning. 

Elsewhere in the mega-cap space, Tesla (TSLA 419.85, +28.76, +7.35%) trades sharply higher, with today's gain nearly halving its month-to-date loss.
