Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 has retreated to its flat line, while the Nasdaq Composite (+0.3%) and DJIA (+0.3%) maintain modest gains. 

The energy sector (-0.8%) faces a widening loss as the price of oil slips $1.38 (-2.3%) to $59.93 per barrel. 

Gold prices are also on the retreat, falling $40.10 (-1.0%) to $3,979.60 per ozt. 

While the materials sector (+0.2%) faced pressure amid falling gold prices yesterday, the sector holds a modest gain, with Nucor (NUE 152.46, +8.30, +5.76%) trading higher after beating top-and-bottom line estimates.
