Futures point to higher open amid potential end to government shutdown

The stock market is on track for a higher opening, with the major averages looking to expand upon last week's gains and once again challenge their all-time high levels.
White House Economic Advisor Kevin Hassett told CNBC that he believes the government shutdown will likely end this week, but if it persists, the White House will consider stronger measures.
The headline coincided with a nice boost in equity futures, which have steadily traded higher since session lows around 7:00 ET.
