[BRIEFING.COM] The Dow Jones Industrial Average (+0.40%) is in third place among the major averages on Monday afternoon, up about 171 points.
A look inside the DJIA shows that NVIDIA (NVDA 151.64, +7.17, +4.96%), Goldman Sachs (GS 589.64, +9.51, +1.64%), and Walmart (WMT 91.94, +1.16, +1.28%) are near the top of the standings.
Meanwhile, Procter & Gamble (PG 161.07, -4.06, -2.46%) is today's top laggard.
The DJIA is now down about -4.82% off the early-December highs.
Elsewhere, the 3-yr note auction didn't impress as the high yield of 4.332% tailed the when-issued yield by 1.2 basis points. Overall dollar demand was pretty solid, as seen in a 2.62 bid-to-cover ratio; however, there was less involvement from indirect bidders today than in previous auctions. Yields across the curve ticked higher following the auction results; and stocks continued to fade from their earlier highs.
