[BRIEFING.COM] The last half hour featured a quick dip by the S&P 500 to new session lows (6017.24) following a Bloomberg report that the Trump administration is mulling additional restrictions on NVIDIA's (NVDA 121.19, -7.80, -6.1%) chip sales to China. It would be remiss not to add that the report also specified that sources indicated any new restrictions, should they be implemented, are likely a long ways off. That clarification helped the indices regain some footing.
This news nonetheless took NVIDIA to new session lows and back below its 200-day moving average (122.12), unwinding most of yesterday's 8.9% gain.
NVIDIA has joined with Salesforce (CRM 352.42, -7.53, -2.1%), Microsoft (MSFT 442.26, -4.94, -1.1%), which reports quarterly results after the close, Boeing (BA 173.05, -4.73, -2.7%), and UnitedHealth (UNH 537.97, -4.51, -0.8%) to be the worst-performing Dow components in terms of point and percentage losses today.
