Some early enthusiasm was reigned in, but stocks maintain rally

[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market has maintained solid gains at the index level today, but some early enthusiasm has been reined in.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (+1.3%) trades more than 550 points higher now, but traded more than 750 points higher at its best level of the morning. The Nasdaq Composite traded up as much as 2.4% at its high and sports a 1.7% gain now.
On Monday, the S&P 500 traded below its closing level on November 5 (Election Day) at its worst level of the day. This amounted to a 5.4% decline from the all-time high reached on December 6. Today, the S&P 500 was within seven points of its 50-day moving average (5,957) at its session high, which is about 2% below its all-time high.
