Regional bank names and energy shares clip Russell 2000
Dow -34.40 at 41990.79, Nasdaq -65.12 at 17948.84, S&P -16.29 at 5697.35

[BRIEFING.COM] The three major indices moved slightly lower over the last half hour. The Russell 2000 is underperforming its peers, trading 0.8% lower. 

The small cap index has been clipped by weakness in regional bank and energy shares. This weakness has led the SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF (KRE) to trade down 1.2% and the S&P 500 energy sector to trade 0.7% lower.

Nine of the S&P 500 sectors trade lower now. Aside from energy, the materials (-0.9%), industrials (-0.9%), and information technology (-0.5%) sectors show some of the largest declines.
