[BRIEFING.COM] The major indices have pulled back in a move reminiscent of yesterday, only it has come a little earlier than yesterday. The pullback has been precipitated by large-cap/mega-cap leaders coming off earlier highs; however, small-cap stocks have been getting squeezed too.
The Russell 2000, up 0.6% earlier, is down 0.1%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which started higher, has also retreated to negative territory.
Sticking with the pullback theme, the S&P 500 information technology sector (+0.3%) has coughed up a large portion of an earlier 1.4% gain but continues to outperform the broader market.
Earlier, advancers led decliners at the NYSE by a better than 2-to-1 margin. The tide has turned, though, and decliners now hold a slight edge over advancers. The same rings true at the Nasdaq.
