[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market opened to muted action. The major indices trade slightly above or slightly below prior closing levels. Participation is still on the light side ahead of Labor Day, and ahead of NVIDIA's (NVDA 127.14, -1.16, -0.9%) earnings report this afternoon.
Market participants are digesting some earnings news from the retail space, but the reports haven't influenced the broader market a lot. Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF 140.65, -25.89, -15.6%), Foot Locker (FL 27.64, -5.17, -15.9%), Nordstrom (JWN 21.52, +0.38, +1.8%), and Kohl's (KSS 20.71, +1.11, +5.7%) are standouts in that respect.
None of the S&P 500 sectors are moving more than 0.6% in either direction. The financial sector leads the pack so far and the communication services sectors brings up the rear.
The 2-yr note yield is at 3.87% and the 10-yr note yield is at 3.83%.
