[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.3%) and Nasdaq Composite (-1.1%) hit session lows in recent trading while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (+0.6%) reached a fresh all-time high.
Market breadth reflects a strong positive bias under the surface. Advancers lead decliners by a 7-to-2 margin at the NYSE and by a nearly 2-to-1 margin at the Nasdaq.
Small and mid cap stocks are also outperforming the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite, reflecting broad buying interest outside the mega cap space. The Russell 2000 sports a 0.6% gain and the S&P Mid Cap 400 shows a 0.5% gain.
