[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.9%), Nasdaq Composite (+1.2%), and Dow Jones Industrial Average (+0.9%) trade off session highs. The Russell 2000 is leading other major indices, trading 3.2% higher.
The small cap index has benefitted from strength in its regional bank and energy shares. This price action has also boosted the S&P 500 energy sector (+1.0%) and SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF (KRE), which trades 4.8% higher.
Other bank stocks are also outperforming the major indices. The SPDR S&P Bank ETF (KBE) sports a 3.7% gain.
