S&P 500 hits highest level since pre-jobs report
Dow +229.21 at 39586.22, Nasdaq +290.51 at 17071.12, S&P +59.00 at 5403.39

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 trades above the 5,400 level for the first time since August 1, which was before the jobs report that precipitated last Monday's sharp selloff.

Just about everything is coming along for the upside ride. Nine S&P 500 sectors trade higher and 25 of the 30 Dow components show gains. Even Dow component Home Depot (HD 349.73, +3.92, +1.1%) trades higher now after sliding as much as 1.9% in response to below-consensus guidance.

The energy sector (-1.0%) is an exception to the trend, trading lower as commodity futures decline. WTI crude oil futures are down 1.9% to $78.54/bbl and natural gas futures are down 2.0% to $2.15/mmbtu.
