[BRIEFING.COM] Stocks opened to modest losses after last week's choppy action. The S&P 500 shows a 0.2% decline and the equal-weighted S&P 500 trades 0.5% lower.
Gains in some mega cap names and chipmakers have provided a measure of support to the major indices so far. This has the Nasdaq Composite showing a 0.1% gain and the PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX) trading 0.4% higher.
Also, the S&P 500 information technology sector trades 0.6% higher. The only other sector trading higher is energy (+0.3%).
The 10-yr note yield is unchanged from Friday's settlement at 3.94% and the 2-yr note yield is unchanged at 4.05%.
