[BRIEFING.COM] The major indices moved higher in recent trading. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (+0.4%), S&P 500 (+0.9%), and Nasdaq Composite (+1.3%) all trade near their best levels of the day.
Many stocks are participating in upside moves. Shortly after the open, decliners had a fractional lead over advancers at the NYSE. Now, advancers lead decliners by 5-to-2 margin at the NYSE.
Only one S&P 500 sector remains in negative territory -- energy (-0.3%) -- while the information technology (+1.7%), communication services (+1.0%), utilities (+0.9%), and consumer discretionary (+0.9%) sectors lead the pack.
