Other top performers in the S&P 500 include semiconductor-related names like ON Semiconductor (ON 76.10, +3.56, +4.8%), KLAC Corp (KLAC 795.69, +33.13, +4.4%), and Applied Materials (AMAT 219.14, +8.88, +4.2%).

This price action has boosted the S&P 500 information technology sector (+1.2%). Also, the PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX) is trading 2.1% higher.
