[BRIEFING.COM] We have our first look now at pricing information for the Russell 2000 and what it shows is that the general buying malaise extends to the small-cap stocks today as well. The Russell 2000, which declined 1.9% yesterday, is down 0.6% today.
Market internals reflect the buyer disinterest. Advancers lead decliners by a nearly 2-to-1 margin at the NYSE and by a 12-to-7 margin at the Nasdaq.
Nine of the 11 S&P 500 sectors are lower with losses ranging from 0.1% (consumer staples) to 1.0% (materials). Communication services (+0.5%) and health care (+0.3%) remain the lone holdouts in positive territory.
Netflix (NFLX 638.12, -4.92, -0.8%), which had some good Q2 earnings results, but some mixed Q3 guidance, has been a drag on the communication services sector, but gains in Meta Platforms (META 479.91, +4.06, +0.9%) and Alphabet (GOOG 180.15, +0.93, +0.5%) have provided offsetting support.
