Downside moves coincided with shares of Broadcom (AVGO 1575.29, -16.29, -1.1%) extending their declines after being up as much as 0.8% in early action. Other semiconductor stocks have maintained a leadership position in today's trade. The PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX) is trading 1.2% higher.
Strength in semiconductor-related components, along with other mega cap names, has contributed to the outperformance of the information technology sector (+1.4%).
