Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite trade near their best levels of the session while the Dow Jones Industrial Average drifts slightly lower. 

Market breadth reflects a negative vibe under the index surface. Decliners lead advancers by an 11-to-10 margin at both the NYSE and at the Nasdaq. Six of the 11 S&P 500 sectors sport losses, reflecting broad selling activity. The heavily-weighted financial sector is the worst performer so far, down 0.7%. 

Rising market rates are a limiting factor for the stock market today. The 10-yr note yield is up two basis points to 4.27% and the 2-yr note yield is up one basis point to 4.74%.
