Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The major indices moved off session lows on below-average to this point in the session. Decliners still have a 3-to-1 lead over advancers at both the NYSE and at the Nasdaq. 

NVIDIA (NVDA 137.85, +0.86, +0.6%) has outperformed, moving into positive territory in recent trading. Other chipmakers are participating in today's retreat. The PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX) shows a 2.1% decline.

The energy sector has also outperformed, showing a 0.1% gain amid rising commodity prices. WTI crude oil futures are 1.1% higher at $71.40/bbl and natural gas futures are 9.6% higher at $3.25/mmbtu.
