[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market opened on a somewhat mixed note. There's not a lot of selling interest or buying interest following another record finish for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite yesterday. Gains in the mega cap space have bolstered the Nasdaq Composite, which is the only major index in positive territory.
Downside moves in other indices have been limited. The S&P 500 is fractionally lower and the Dow Jones Industrial Average shows a 0.2% decline. Market breadth is negative, but modestly so. Decliners have a 4-to-3 lead over advancers at the NYSE and a 3-to-2 lead at the Nasdaq.
None of the S&P 500 sectors are moving more than 0.5% in either direction. The communication services sector leads the pack while the industrial sector brings up the rear.
Job openings totaled 7.744 million in October, up from a revised count of 7.372 million in September (from 7.443 million).
