Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.4%) and Nasdaq Composite (+0.7%) took a sharp turn higher in the last 20 minutes. The overall vibe in the market is still negative, though. Decliners lead advancers by a 3-to-2 margin at the NYSE and by a 4-to-3 ratio at the Nasdaq.

The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP) trades 0.3% lower and six S&P 500 sectors are lower. The consumer staples (-1.3%) and materials (-0.6%) sectors are the worst performers while the communication services (+1.1%) and information technology (+0.8%) sectors lead the pack.

Treasury yields sit near intraday highs. The 10-yr yield is at 4.56%.
