[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.6%) and Nasdaq Composite (+1.1%) trade near session highs while the Russell 2000 (-0.3%) underperforms after surging 5.8% yesterday.
Weakness in regional bank components and energy shares has weighed down the Russell 2000. Losses in these spaces have also weighed down the SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF (KRE), which sports a 1.3% decline from yesterday, and the energy sector, which shows a 0.6% loss.
Meanwhile, five of the S&P 500 sectors trade up more than 0.9%. The real estate (+1.0%) and utilities (+1.0%) sectors are top performers amid dropping yields. The 10-yr yield sits at 4.36%.
