[BRIEFING.COM] The major indices took a sharp turn lower as Treasury yields moved up slightly. The S&P 500 sits at 5,700, down 0.5% from yesterday after the 10-yr yield hit 4.30%.
Many stocks participated in the pullback, leading the equal-weighted S&P 500 to trade 0.1% lower. Losses in mega caps and chipmakers have an outsized impact on index declines, though. The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF (MGK) shows a 0.4% decline and the PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX) trades 0.2% lower.
Seven of the 11 S&P 500 sectors trade lower and 25 of the 30 Dow components show losses.
