[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market opened to mixed, and limited, action at the index level. The S&P 500 has traded slightly higher and slightly lower than yesterday's close. There's not a lot of conviction from buyers or sellers after this week's choppy movement in the major indices.
Mixed action in the mega cap space has contributed to the mixed action in the broader market. Alphabet (GOOG 164.01, -1.69, -1.0%) sports a solid decline after news that the DOJ is considering remedies for Google including a possible breakup in its antitrust case.
None of the S&P 500 sectors are moving more than 0.8% in either direction. The financial sector (+0.5%) leads the pack while the communication services sector (-0.8%) brings up the rear.
Oil futures are building on yesterday's sharp losses, leading WTI crude oil futures to trade 2.3% lower at $71.90/bbl.
