Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The three major indices sit near their lows of the session, but still show modest gains. The Nasdaq Composite trades 0.6% higher than yesterday. 

Ongoing strength in semiconductor-related names, which outperformed the broader market yesterday, has boosted index performance. The PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX) trades 1.4% higher. NVIDIA (NVDA 123.49, +0.67, +0.6%) and Broadcom (AVGO 174.97, +3.08, +1.8%) are building on their recent gains. NVDA shares are 1.9% higher than last Friday's close and AVGO shares are 1.4% higher this week. 

This price action has also boosted the S&P 500 information technology, which sports a 0.6% gain despite a loss in Apple (AAPL 225.25, -0.43, -0.2%).
