[BRIEFING.COM] The major indices moved higher over the last half hour. Many stocks are participating, leading the equal-weighted S&P 500 to trade 0.2% higher.

Semiconductor stocks are a limiting force on the major indices after earnings and mild Q4 revenue guidance from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD 151.49, -14.73, -8.9%). The PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX) sports a 2.0% decline.

NVIDIA (NVDA 139.52, -1.73, -1.2%) and Broadcom (AVGO 178.34, -0.97, 0.5%) are notable losers from the space.

This price action has contributed to the loss in the S&P 500 information technology sector (-0.5%), along a decline in Apple (AAPL 231.93, -1.74, -0.8%). Microsoft (MSFT 437.81, +5.85, +1.4%) has provided some offsetting support ahead of its earnings report this afternoon.
