[BRIEFING.COM] The major indices dipped toward their worst levels of the session over the last half hour. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite have returned to their flat lines.
Downside moves at the index level coincided with mega caps and semiconductor-related names pulling back from their best levels. The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF (MGK) traded up as much as 0.6%, but sports a 0.2% gain now. The PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX) traded up as much as 1.8% and shows a 0.8% gain now.
This price action has also impacted the S&P 500 information technology sector, which trades up 0.6% now, but showed a 1.3% gain at its best level. NVIDIA (NVDA 122.61, +3.76, +3.2%) and Broadcom (AVGO 173.15, +2.40, +1.4%) are among the influential names that declined from opening levels, yet maintained solid gains thus far.
