[BRIEFING.COM] The Russell 2000 continues to underperform its large cap peers, trading 0.6% lower. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite shows gains of 0.1% and 0.4%, respectively.
The underlying bias in the market is negative despite gains at the index level. The equal-weighted S&P 500 trades 0.1% lower and seven of the S&P 500 sectors trade lower. The utilities (-1.8%) and energy (-1.1%) sectors are the only sectors down more than 1.0%.
The financial sector (-0.2%) shows the slimmest decline among the seven sectors trading lower.
