Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The indices are off their lows of the morning but remain mired in negative territory on some broad-based selling interest.

Decliners lead advancers by a better than 2-to-1 margin at the NYSE and Nasdaq.

The real estate (+0.4%) and utilities (+0.2%) sectors are the only S&P 500 sectors in positive territory at this time. Losses for the remaining nine sectors range from 0.1% to 0.9%.

The consumer discretionary sector (-0.9%), hurt by McDonald's (MCD 300.54, -14.15, -4.5%) and losses in the majority of its components, is the biggest loser.
