Small and mid cap stocks are outperforming their larger peers, leading the S&P Mid Cap 400 to trade 0.4% higher and the Russell 2000 to trade 0.2% higher.
The small cap index has been boosted by its energy and regional bank components. Strength in these areas have also boosted the S&P 500 energy sector (+1.2%) and the SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF (KRE), which trades 0.6% higher.
