[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market opened to mixed action at the index level. The S&P 500 (+0.1%) and Nasdaq Composite (+0.2%) trade up while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (-0.6%) sports a decline.

The largest component in the price-weighted DJIA -- UnitedHealth (UNH 549.79, -55.40, -9.2%) -- is sharply lower, weighing down the Dow and other health care stocks after reporting earnings. 

Other earnings news, specifically from the financial sector, has received mixed responses. Bank of America (BAC 42.58, +0.68, +1.6%) sports a solid gain after reporting quarterly results while Citigroup (C 64.55, -1.46, -2.2%) trades lower after reporting earnings. 

Oil prices are lower today after reports that Israel will not strike oil or nuclear targets in its retaliation on Iran. WTI crude oil futures are down 4.4% to $70.61/bbl.
